Un-Chocolate Pecan Pie

1 cup light Karo syrup   2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar   1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  3 eggs   9" pie shell.   (I prefer Mrs. Smith's frozen pie shells.)

 Pre-heat oven to 350

Cook the following ingredients over low heat until sugar melts:
1 cup light Karo syrup
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter or margarine

Beat the following ingredients well in a mixing bowl:
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pour Karo & sugar mixture into the egg mixture while beating with mixer.
Fold in 1 cup chopped pecans.
Pour into 9" pie shell.   

Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes, until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean.
I suggest putting a piece of aluminum foil on the lower oven rack to catch drips.

 IMPORTANT:  Cool slowly.  Turn the oven off, open the oven door, leave the pie on the oven rack and pull the rack out slightly.  If the pie cools too fast the center of it will sink.
